I see myself as a photographer as much as a retoucher, a combination that is only limited by my imagination.

Erik Johansson for being today with us.
? So what about you?
My name is Erik Johansson, I’m a professional photographer and retoucher from Sweden. Born and raised on the countryside outside of a small town called Götene.
.
? Tell me a little about your background – what did you study and what
path led you to what you’re doing now?
I have been drawing since I was a kid and I have also had a big interest in computers. As I got my first digital camera on my 15:th birthday it was a natural step for me to start doing basic modifications of the photos in the computer. At the age of 20 I moved to Gothenburg to study computer engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. At the time photography was only a hobby but as I begun to develop a quite original style it became clear to me that that was what I wanted to do. In 2010 I graduated as a computer engineer with a master in interaction design. During the years at the university I worked in parallel with photography and retouch for advertisement agencies in Gothenburg. During the summer of 2010 I moved to Norrköping, Sweden.
.
? How would you describe your artistic style?
My style is realistically realized surreal ideas with a touch of humor, something like that.
.
.
? Where else do you find inspiration – books, magazines, blogs, your
environment, travel, your family and friends?
? Which designers, artists or creative people are you inspired by?
I think I get more inspiration from drawings than photos, e.g. Dali, Rob Gonsalves, Escher, Shaun Tan. But I also get inspiration from things in my daily life and I always make sure to make a note or quick sketch each time an idea pops up.
.
.
.
? What are you most proud of professionally?
I haven’t really been doing that many projects commissioned that I can say that I’m extra proud of.
.
.
? What would be your dream project?
? What are you looking forward to?
I haven’t really been working with any major brands yet. I would love to work with some bigger brands and I hope to do so. My dream is to not having to worry about money and then be working full time with personal projects.
